Protective
Custody (PC)
Is provided to
intoxicated persons, who are involuntarily admitted at the discretion of local
law enforcement officers, as allowed by state law. All clients must be over 18 years of age.
Adult Short-Term
Shelter (To assist clients to adjust to a sober lifestyle.)
Clients can
choose to stay at NCI in order to become sober and self-sufficient.
Emergency
Shelter (24hr assistant care in food, clothing, and transportation services)
McKinley area
residents are welcomed for emergency shelter. Shelter clients who are
intoxicated at intake will be held in the detox area for their own safety until
their breath alcohol level is below .04.

The First Step
Residential
Program is a modified Therapeutic Community designed to provide a series of 15
days program. The program has three phases; 1 is the Assessment phase, phase 2
is the Entitlement phase, and phase 3 is the Recovery phase. The program guides
the clients through specific steps toward building a sober/wellbriety lifestyle.
Admission
Criteria
Legal
authorities, Judicial system, family members, or counselors may bring any
intoxicated person 18 years or older to NCI (even "against their
will") for a 3-day emergency detox-services if they feel that this person
is a danger to themselves or to others (State Statute 43-2-18 NM 1978).
Referring agencies must complete the brief NCI admission form in person, over
the phone, or via fax.
