A Bridge to Recovery
1st Step Counselor - Gabriel Kanawite
1st Step Intake Clerk - Sharon Henry
First Step is a program designed to give the client/Relative motivation to continue their treatment in aftercare through a referral into other Impatient Treatment Programs.  The 1st Step is an intensive Therapeutic Community Program with a multilevel approach to guide the client through various steps toward building a sobriety/well-briety life style.  You will be monitored for alcohol daily and drugs randomly.  You must attend all sessions to learn the many facts of you and your environmental experiences.  All three phases will be assigning homework, assignments must be completed and submitted to the counselor for their review and signature.  Nature walks and outings are few and clients are encouraged to participate as part of the community.  For more information please call First Step Intake Clerk for admission criteria ext. 110 or 1st Step Counselor ext. 104.

The First Step Program is an introductory treatment program for people that have never been in treatment and who find them-selves repeating detox and protective custody. First Step has three phases. Phase one is 15 days and begins with the first step of AA. Phase two is also 15 days and the person works on step 2 through 4. Phase three which is also 15 days is the empowerment phase where relatives/clients complete their recovery plan; work on securing employment and housing.
First Step focuses on the Re-socialization of the individual and use the programs' entire community resources including other residents, staff, and the social context as active components of treatment.  Addiction is viewed in the context of an individual's social psychological, cultural, and spiritual deficit and treatment on developing personal accountability and responsibility, and socially productive lives.  Treatment is structured with the context of group using the 12 steps as pathway towards sobriety and wellness with our mission "to "Reduce Public Intoxication".
